Wake up! It’s SUNrise!!

First Published June 2021

I’m thrilled to let you know that the SUNrise Pouch pattern has been released and is available to purchase from my Etsy shop! **Edit: You can pop now to the shop here to get it! ** The SUNrise pattern, along with all In Complete Stitches patterns are on sale with a 20% discount until the 8th June 2021!!

The SUNrise is a versatile pouch pattern. It comes in two heights, cropped and tall, with LOTS of options.

It has a simple modern aesthetic with a circular graphic forming a PiecedSUN, a Front Pocket SUNflap which secures an external pocket or a Fold Over SUNflap that elevates the pattern to a clutch or purse style. It can be made as a simple pouch but offers lots of playful options and SUNhackability! The wonderful team of pattern testers couldn’t resist a few hacks of their own – have a look below for some ideas on how to personalise your own SUNrise!!

The second pattern in the SUNseries, the SUNrise will sit neatly into a MidnightSUN bag; because we all love a bit of matching! And to make that matching all the easier we have added a “SUNbundle” listing to the Etsy shop too!!

SUNrise Giveaway!!

To celebrate the pattern release there are loads of pattern giveaways taking place! Along with lots of the wonderful team of pattern testers I will be hosting one on my over at @incompletestitches on Instagram as well as in the In Complete Stitches Sew & Share Facebook group!

Leave a comment here at the bottom of this post to be in with a chance of winning a copy of the SUNrise pattern!! I’ll randomly select a comment on the evening of Sunday, 6th June, and will contact the winner to let them know!!

There are lots of options for making the SUNrise pattern, the most “fabric hungry” of which requires 35cm/14
inches of 110cm/42″ wide outer fabric (mid to heavy weight stable fabrics such as canvas, oilskin/waxed canvas, upholstery fabrics, denim, stable mid to heavy weight linen) and 58cm/23 inches of 110cm/42″ wide lining fabric (mid to light weight stable fabrics such as cotton, quilting cotton, linen, lightweight cotton canvas.)

The pattern calls for the use of a 25cm closed ended zip and the SUNflaps require the use of a magnetic or snap fixing. Internally you can choose to add a zipped welt pocket for which you need a 15cm closed ended zip.

Add a simple leather strap threaded through the side-tabs to make a sweet and deceptively big crossbody purse!

As always with and In Complete Stiches pattern, you will receive a comprehensive illustrated PDF tutorial that will walk you through each step needed to make all of the SUNoptions, including an internal zipped welt pocket and internal SUNpatch pocket. The SUNrise pattern also includes an A0/copyshop PDF, an A4/US Letter PDF file for home printing and a PDF projector file!

Test SUNrises!!

Now, let’s show you some of the wonderful SUNrises made by the most generous, talented team of pattern testers! I hugely value the time, energy and precious fabric that the testers put into helping me perfect the pattern. A huge thank you to them all for their kind help. Don’t forget that lots of them are hosting SUNrise giveaways this weekend! Click on the links below each picture to go to their Instagram pages and discover even more wonderful creative sewing projects!

Such a fabulous diverse set of SUNrises! Thank you so much to all the testers for their hard work and considered input to the SUNrise pattern. So all that is left for me now is to wait for the first few SUNrises to pop up on social-media. It is simply delightful to see my patterns come to life and I can’t wait to see what you all make with this latest!
