SUNbundle - MidnightSUN and SUNrise Pouch PDF Sewing Patterns

The MidnightSUN is a workhorse of a pattern. It comes in two heights, cropped and tall, with a host of strap and closure options. A super flexible pattern; it can be made as a tote, shoulder or crossbody bag, with a snap, zipped or drawstring closure. The MidnightSUN has a simple modern aesthetic with a large outer curved pocket to the front that is complimented by a curved internal pocket along with the option of a zipped welt pocket. The cropped version approximate finished internal dimensions: 22cm (8 ½”) tall x 37cm (14 ½”) wide at the main opening, 13cm (5”) deep at the base. The tall MidnightSUN approximate finished internal dimensions: 30cm (12”) tall x 37cm (14 ½”) wide at the main opening, 13cm (5”) deep at the base.

The pattern includes a number of main closure options; a recessed zip, a drawstring closure or a simple magnetic/snap fixing. It also includes lots of strap styles to choose from and combine; short hand straps, tote straps, flatlay straps, shoulder/short crossbody strap or a detachable crossbody strap. Both height options feature a generous main bag and a large external curved pocket. Internally you can choose from a host of options; keep it simple or add a zipped welt pocket, a curved patch pocket, or a simple rectangular patch pocket. There is also a "secret pocket" as part of the drawstring closure option.

The SUNrise Pouch is a versatile pouch pattern. It comes in two heights, cropped and tall, with LOTS of options (13 basic variations.) It has a simple modern aesthetic with a circular graphic forming a PiecedSUN, a front pocket SUNflap (securing an external pocket) or a fold over SUNflap. The main zipped closure uses a 25cm (10”) closed ended zip finished with neat zip end tabs. The tutorial walks you through each step needed to make all of the options, including an internal zipped welt pocket and internal SUNpatch pocket.

The MidnightSUN is a "Confident Beginner/Intermediate" level pattern. The pattern has lots of options; some straightforward and some a bit more challenging; requiring a bit of confidence handling multiple layers of fabric and two different zip construction methods. OUTER FABRIC: Mid - Heavy weight stable fabrics such as oilskin/waxed canvas, mid-heavy weight canvas, denim.

Quantities of fabric required vary depending on size, option and colour blocking choices. The most "fabric hungry" option requires 1.25m/1.4yds of 110cm/42" wide fabric.

LINING FABRIC:

Mid - light weight stable fabrics such as medium-lightweight cotton, quilting cotton, linen.

Quantities of fabric required vary depending on size, option and colour blocking choices. The most "fabric hungry" option requires 1.85m/2yds of 110cm/42" wide fabric.

- Optional: 25mm/40mm (1/1 ½”) adjustable sliders

- Interfacing: While the MidnightSUN can be made without overall interfacing, depending on the fabric you use and the level or structure that you desire, you may wish to interface some areas. - 25cm (10”) closed ended zip (or 27cm (11”) length of a continuous zip and zipper pull).

- Optional: a magnetic closure or snap fixing.

- Optional Internal Welt Zip: 15cm (6”) closed ended zip (or 18cm (7”) length of a continuous zip and zipper pull).

- Interfacing: While the SUNrise Pouch can be made without overall interfacing, depending on the fabric you use and the level or structure that you desire, you may wish to interface some areas.
