  • The SPLASHpouch is a classic boxy zipped pouch pattern, but with some lovely diagonal lines and gentle curves. It comes, as you might expect, with a few options for you to play with... Four sizes, with a choice of longer or shorter proportions; pencil case, wash bag, tool pouch, project bag, cute little coin purse... whatever your imagination holds!     The SPLASHpouch pattern comes in four sizes: two long (one large, Size 1, and one small, Size 3) and two boxy (one large, Size 2, and one small, Size 4). They all have a simple zipped opening with seams finished internally with bias binding. The optional addition of piping to the main seam adds a lovely finish while also giving an extra bit of structure to the pouch. The large sizes, Size 1 and Size 2, can also be provided with an internal patch or external slip pockets.

    Approximate Finished Dimensions:

    Size 1: overall length: 25cm (10"), finished upper width: 10.5cm (4"), finished height:12cm (4 3/4") and takes a 30cm (12") closed ended zip.

    Size 2: overall length: 15cm (6"), finished upper width: 10.5cm (4"), finished height:12cm (4 3/4") and takes a 20cm (8") closed ended zip.

    Size 3: overall length: 22.5cm (just under 9"), finished upper width: 9cm (3 1/2"), finished height: 9cm (3 1/2") and takes a 25cm (10") closed ended zip.

    Size 4: overall length: 12.5cm (just under 5"), finished upper width: 9cm (3 1/2"), finished height: 9cm (3 1/2") and takes a 15cm (6") closed ended zip.

  • The SPLASHpouch is an "Intermediate" level pattern. The overall construction method is straightforward, but the sewing of the opposing curves is the most challenging part of making these pouches. Accurate sewing does require some skill and care. But do not fear! A little careful, patient sewing, and dare I prepare you, with an occasional use of your stitch ripper and you will be just fine! The accompanying comprehensive tutorial will empower you to tackle all elements with confidence.

  • DIGITAL DOWNLOAD INCLUDES A ZIPPED FILE CONTAINING:

    - A detailed, extensive, illustrated step-by-step tutorial to guide you in confidently sewing your own SPLASHpouch

    Upon purchase you will be sent a link to the zipped pattern file that lasts for 24hours after purchase - but don’t worry! Should you need to access your pattern at a later date just click on the original email to be sent a new one. For your own convenience we do advise that you download and save your files securely on your computer upon purchase.

  • OUTER FABRIC:

    Most mid-heavy weight woven fabrics are suitable such as oilskin/waxed canvas, mid - weight canvas, denim. Quantities of fabric vary depending on size, option and colour blocking choices. The largest size requires up to 40cm (0.9yrd) of 110cm/42" wide outer fabric.

    LINING:

    Medium-lightweight cotton, quilting cotton, linen, mid-light weight canvas. Quantities of fabric vary depending on size, option and colour blocking choices. The largest size requires up to 40cm (0.9yrd) of 110cm/42" wide outer fabric.f 110cm/42" wide lining fabric.

  • NOTIONS required include (depending on your option choice):

    - Zipper as listed in the Full Description above or a continuous zip approximately 3cm / 1" longer than listed above.

    - (Optional) Bias Binding: Ready-made or self-made bias binding to finish the internal seams. Up to 1.5m for the largest size.

    - (Optional) Piping: Ready-made piping or piping cord plus self-made bias binding to make your own. Up to 1.5m for the largest size.

    - (Optional) Snap Fixings: 2 x 12mm (1/2") Anorak Snap. In Sizes 1 and 2 you can choose to add an external double pocket secured with a snap fixing.

    - (Optional) Strap: webbing/leather/strap to make a grab strap for the end of your SPLASHpouch. Size 1 & Size 2: 18cm (7") - approx. width 25mm (1"), Size 3 & Size 4: 15cm (6") - approx. width 20mm (3/4")

    - Interfacing: The SPLASHpouch can be made without overall interfacing, however, depending on the fabric you use and the level or structure that you desire, you may wish to interface some areas. The pattern tutorial contains suggestions on suitable fabrics and on areas where you may want to consider adding interfacing.

    - Denim needle/needle suitable for your fabric choice.
